Speak & Spell Sound Pack
Speak & Spell is back with 100+ new phrases!
Launched by Texas Instruments in June 1978, this electronic educational toy became a pop-culture icon later on, as it kept appearing in the compositions of Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Röyksopp, Coldplay… just to name a few. Depeche Mode’s 1981 debut album, Speak & Spell, is named after this device.
Speak & Spell was the device of choice to “phone home” (cit. E.T.), thus becoming an immortal image in the mind of anyone born in the ’80s.
Speak & Spell deployed a single-chip voice synthesizer, the TMC0280. The speech synthesis data was stored on a pair of 128 Kbit PMOS ROMs – an impressive achievement for the time; it was named an IEEE Milestone in 2009.
In this Royalty Free Sound Pack, you will rediscover the beloved robotic voice with the complete original set of words, numbers, and the alphabet. Additionally, you’ll find an array of new, ready-to-use phrases ranging from surreal humor to AI’s threats to humanity.
